ECOLOGICAL PROJECTS
Ecology to me as a designer is about preserving nature and the fundamentals of its origins. Locating elements within the landscape that links back to historical uses is a tool I use within my designs to tell the stories of the landscape and how it was shaped. Ecology can help maintain the beauty of a landscape, but it can aslo inform the story telling process, bringin people at one with the land and design.
The current project displayed is three stages of an ecological design, research, possible outcome and strageties to develop the landscape and the design.

The design process focusses on the ecological state of the landscape and its people. It will be implemented through community gardens, riparian planting and the creation of green corridors which are all part of the cultural significance of the site. These design implementations will reflect Maori design principles to respond to the needs of the Ngati Koroki Kahukura and their landscape. dividing the landscape into areas where ecological significance will be on a larger scale and other areas will function as space for papakainga housing, community gardens and creating the relationship between the ecology and green corridors. These will all have an influence on the social, economic and ecological state of the area.
